Bio

Amélie Chassary, born in 1980 in Corrèze, Paris, has cultivated a rich artistic journey that reflects both her academic pursuits and her evocative photographic vision. After spending two decades in the vibrant cultural landscape of Paris, followed by a period in Burgundy, Amélie settled in the Tarn region to embrace the enchanting light of South-West Paris, which profoundly influences her work. Her formal education in art history and graphic arts at the prestigious Met Art School in Penninghen laid the foundation for her creative expression. Graduating with honors, Amélie’s academic background is evident in her meticulously crafted photographs. From an early age, she honed her skills in drawing and painting at a fine arts academy, which complemented her later experience in a photo studio where she spent three transformative years mastering the art of photography. Amélie's professional journey began with commissions for national press, fashion, and heritage publishing. In 2010, she teamed up with fellow artist Belarbi to form the dynamic duo Chassary&Belarbi, which showcased two compelling series at festivals both in Paris and internationally. Their work garnered attention, including a feature in the renowned Connaissance des Arts magazine's New Talent section. In 2014, Amélie took a decisive step to focus solely on her personal photographic projects. This pivotal shift led to the creation of several acclaimed series centered on botanical themes. A significant turning point occurred in 2018 when she participated in a masterclass alongside Sylvie HUGUES and photographer FLORE, which propelled her to develop the celebrated series "In Praise of Simplicity." This body of work marked the beginning of a new creative era, seamlessly intertwining photographic imagery with pictorial references. Her artistic contributions have not gone unrecognized; Amélie has received numerous accolades, including the Mentoring of Girls of Photography Award in 2020, the Individual Assistance Prize for Creation from DRAC Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in 2021, and the Paris Good Fashion & Eyes on Talents Prize in 2023. Her work has been featured at prestigious events such as the PhotoSaintGermain festival, Biennale PhotoClimat, Les Photaumnales, and the Rencontres Photographies en Gaspésie, among others. In 2022, she published her first artist book, "Automne," in collaboration with the A.M.E.L.I.E Maison d’art Gallery in Paris, further solidifying her presence in the contemporary art scene. Alongside her artistic practice, Amélie’s photography is represented by the Regard Suspendu agency, facilitating collaborations with luxury brands and companies. Her work continues to captivate audiences, with representation at the A.M.E.L.I.E Maison d’art Gallery in both Paris and New York, establishing her as a compelling voice in modern photography.
