Aart Verrips has emerged as a dynamic force in the Cape Townn fashion scene, captivating audiences with his innovative approach to photography that resonates on both local and global platforms. Renowned for his distinctive style, Verrips artfully intertwines the daring and provocative with a commercial aesthetic, showcasing an expansive creativity and meticulous attention to detail. This unique vision is subtly influenced by his formative years as a pastry chef in Paris, where he honed his appreciation for artistry and craftsmanship. Reflecting on his passion for fashion photography, Verrips shares, “I love fashion photography because you can create a different world in one single frame; you can make the impossible seem possible.” This philosophy was vividly brought to life in his debut solo exhibition at Hazard Gallery in Johannesburg, where he explored themes of masculine beauty, its captivating nuances, and our relentless quest for perfection. Verrips’ editorial prowess has garnered him features in prestigious publications including GQ, Elle, Glamour, Marie Claire, Vogue Italia, Men’s Health, Woman’s Health, Client, and Yearbook Fanzine, among others.
