Thom Gilbert, Photographer, New York

Description

This striking portrait photograph by Thom Gilbert features a muscular black man flexing his arms while holding two distinct athletic discs aloft. In his right hand, he holds a yellow disc with a dark center, and in his left hand, a red disc with a similar central hub. The subject is positioned directly in front of a solid, warm yellow background, which casts sharp, dramatic shadows behind his arms and torso. The lighting is bright and direct, accentuating the musculature and textures of the subject's physique.
