Shamil Tanna, Photographer, London

Description

This dynamic photograph by Shamil Tanna captures a high-energy basketball game played on an outdoor asphalt court in bright, direct sunlight. Two young Black male players in blue athletic jerseys are centrally positioned, one closely guarding the other while hands reach for the prominent basketball in the foreground. The low-angle composition emphasises the action and intensity of the moment, with harsh shadows cast across the playing surface. In the background, low-rise apartment buildings and parked cars complete the urban street setting under a clear sky. The overall color grading features warm, sun-drenched tones that enhance the documentary style of the capture.
