Pernille Loof, Photographer, New York

Description

This still life photograph by Pernille Loof features an antique wooden secretaire desk as the central hero object, positioned against a stark black background. The desk is crafted with rich wood grain veneers and detailed ornamental brass or gilt bronze mounts along its curved edges and slender cabriole legs. Resting on top of the writing slope are a tall, slender glass decanter with a patterned stopper and two small matching glasses containing an amber liquid. The lighting is focused and dramatic, highlighting the texture of the polished wood and the metallic sheen of the hardware while casting deep shadows below. The composition is clean, vertical, and emphasizes the craftsmanship of the antique furniture.
