Oliver Pilcher, Photographer, New York

Description

This black and white photograph by Oliver Pilcher captures a scene of cowboys working in a dusty corral. Several men wearing wide-brimmed hats and chaps guide a herd of cattle, kicking up dense clouds of dust that diffuse the harsh sunlight. The composition is framed horizontally, emphasizing the expansive open sky and the rough, textured terrain of the enclosure. Long, dramatic shadows stretch across the dirt ground, highlighting the tactile quality of the earth and the atmospheric haze.
