NYPL Treasures Political Prisoner 2026

About

This video feature for the New York Public Library's Treasures exhibition highlights Elizabeth Catlett's sculpture Political Prisoner, presented alongside commentary by curator Delilah Scruggs. Filmed inside the NYPL library archive, the video captures detailed close-ups of the carved wooden sculpture, its bound hands, and surrounding exhibition cases. Delilah Scruggs speaks directly to the camera against a backdrop of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, discussing the historical significance of the piece. The production incorporates institutional establishing shots of the NYPL building, exterior street scenes, and gallery walkthroughs, creating an educational and documentary record of the collection.
