Description

This dynamic sports photograph captures practitioners of the traditional Japanese martial art kendo sparring inside an indoor gymnasium. The subjects wear dark protective armor including protective headgear known as men and specialized gloves while wielding wooden training swords. Motion blur emphasizes the high-speed action and physical intensity of the combat. The polished wooden gymnasium floor reflects overhead lighting and features painted court boundary lines. Captured with a sense of immediacy, the composition places viewers right in the center of the energetic exchange.
