Description

This striking black and white portrait captures a young boy in a close-up, dynamic composition as he squints one eye and wrinkles his nose in a playful expression. He is wearing a light-coloured collared shirt and holds a toy gun directly toward the camera, creating a shallow depth of field that blurs the foreground barrel while keeping his focused face sharp. The monochrome palette emphasises the strong contrast, textures of his short braided hair, and the sharp details of his expression. Photographed by John Blais in Chicago, the image employs a dramatic perspective that engages the viewer directly.
