Ian Butterworth, Photographer, Sydney

Description

This striking aerial photograph captured by Ian Butterworth presents a dramatic split perspective of a golf course. On the manicured green turf on the left, a golfer wearing a vibrant pink shirt and light trousers is crouched and reaching tentatively through a dense dividing hedge. A golf bag and clubs sit nearby on the grass, accompanied by a dramatic shadow cast by an unseen figure. On the right side of the hedge, the environment shifts drastically to a dark, rugged riverbank where a massive crocodile rests near a nest containing several eggs. The composition juxtaposes the controlled environment of sport with the raw danger of wildlife in a surreal overhead framing.
