Description

This still life photograph by Gustav Almestal features a single black incense stick standing upright in the center of a round, textured blue ceramic dish. A delicate wisp of white smoke curls upward from the lit tip of the incense stick into the dark upper portion of the frame. Small grey ash remnants rest on the glossy blue surface of the shallow dish. The entire subject is set against a smooth, dark vertical gradient background that transitions from near black at the top to a lighter grey at the base. The studio lighting provides gentle highlights along the rim of the dish and the cylindrical body of the incense stick.
